Here Comes the Milk

I created this little Milk Carton gal probably about six months before entering the animation stage. The long gap was due to my fear of picking up a new rigging/animation tool, RubberHose. At the time, I had only been using Duik and found that I was unable to achieve the movement I wanted with the plugin. The idea of climbing through the RubberHose learning curve felt daunting on me as there were already plenty of things on my 'Learning List.' So I set it aside, waiting for another time to pick it back up.

Six months later, I had an animated commercial job that required RubberHose and so I decided that this was the time to finally learn it. After wrapping up the job, I was in such a animation-mode that I ended up using all the new skills to this gal.

VECTOR

I first created the character in Illustrator because I originally like the sharp vector style. The vector shapes do come in handy later on in After Effects for path animation.

TEXTURE

But after six months, my taste and interest also changed so I pulled the vector in Photoshop to add the grainy texture.

BODY   ----    I have some people asked if it was done in a 3D program. There is no real 3D in this project but I fake the perspective change as the body sway back and forth by animating the scale property of each side (Front, Side, Top.) The same principle is applied for the teeth and tongue.
